All the Sundays of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Tourist Office organizes free and supportive guided tours through the historic center of Biar.

These routes cover the most interesting streets and is shown to the visitor emblematic places of the population (small hermitages, snow well etc.), is led by a qualified guide who informs visitors about the history of the town, adding legends and anecdotes about the places visited.

The snow well dates from the 18th century, it was the old snowfield where the snow was crushed until it turned into ice.

It is currently in a very good state of conservation and is used to make exhibitions.

The Castle is one of the most emblematic monuments of Biar, has been located on a hill 750 meters above sea level, in the Alto Vinalopó region, in the interior of Alicante.

The castle dates from the middle of the 12th century and is of Muslim (Almohad) origin. After a five-month siege, Jaime I the Conqueror seized it. It was declared a national monument on June 4, 1931.

There are two options for get to the castle, on foot taking a pleasant walk through the cobbled streets that surround the old town, lasting approximately 7 to 10 minutes. Or if you prefer, with your own vehicle, there is a small area enabled for parking.
